Hi! My story is I grew up in a small town in Texas and never considered a career in flying until I was a senior in high school. My close friend got into a bad car accident that sparked a chain of events for us to meet life flight pilots that led to me wanting to fly.
After my first semester of college I started flight training where I had the best instructors and had a blast. Here and there I would struggle with ground topics but overall studied and flew about 4 times a week training mostly in a Grumman Cheetah. I built my time as an instructor and am now a corporate pilot flying a Lear 60XR hoping to go to Southwest when I meet their requirements!
Any advice I would give my younger self or someone else pursuing this is listen to your instructor and study at home-I didn’t do that near as much as I should have and it cost me so much extra money and time. Set huge goals for yourself to reach but make sure you enjoy life and live it to the fullest.
