My name is Ivan Luciani (@iluciani) and I caught the fatal “flying bug” at an airshow with my
dad at age nine and have since then been happily addicted to the magical world of flight. Today, I get to fly a mighty Gulfstream G650 all over the world. To say that I absolutely love what I do would be an understatement. No, it’s not a job, it’s a passion. Best of all, I get to live it everyday!
Over the course of my 38 year career I have had the joy of flying a wide range of business jets and perform multiple managerial roles. The silver lining, and most rewarding aspect of my aerial career, has been my role as a mentor. The privilege of helping to inspire future
generations of aviators is something I love and hope to continue doing long after I retire from professional bizjet flying come 2026 — along with, of course (and sometimes off course!), chasing sunrises and sunsets throughout British Columbia in my dream retirement vehicle, an ICON A5 amphibious light-sport aircraft.
Oh yes, the books.... I am also an amateur author and have written two aviation books. A third book is on the way. Of course, it’s all in the name of contributing in a very modest way to our industry by inspiring, and helping mold, current and future generations of aviators.
My biggest satisfaction is not that I was able to relentlessly pursue and successfully achieve my dream of becoming a pilot. My biggest satisfaction is to have the opportunity, in fact, the
privilege, of motivating and inspiring others to pursue and achieve theirs.
I made it and so can you!
Be sure to check out Pilot Ivan's books, they are well worth a read!
