Pilot Lourdes:

I was born and raised in Elche, Alicante (Spain). The day I turned 13 I won a contest. The prize was a trip to Disneyworld with my parents, then the vertigo arrived. It was the first time I was flying in an airplane, when we landed in JFK airport I saw a female pilot in the terminal building, I thought she was so stylish and elegant, she was like an apparition to me, the sunset sunlight reflected on her, my inner voice said I wanted to be like her in the future.

After the trip when I returned to my school days I spoke with my school counselor, he said if I wanted to become pilot I should take Science subjects, and that was a challenge for me, I was a literature student! I hated Math and Physics but I took them anyway. My dream of becoming a pilot became a step by step process studying subjects I wasn’t good at!!

I fly jets over Europe since 2004, in the future I see myself flying and teaching. Before I was hired for an airline I worked as a flight instructor and I enjoyed very much that stage. Now, I help other people to overcome their fear of flying and I mentor aspiring pilots on

To my younger self I would tell her; don’t be so hard on yourself, it’s ok to put your best effort but practice will help you out to improve.
